Accountability Pressure

Federal government calls for increased accountability. The controversial "Spellings Report" (officially titled "A Test of Leadership") seeks improved operational efficiency and metrics on learning.

Student Access to Courses & Student Satisfaction

A Recent Loel-Levitz study, completed by 622,000 students at more than 800 four-year and two-year public and private institutions across North America. The results include student responses over a three-year academic time period from the fall of 2004 through the spring of 2007.

There was a generally low student satisfaction in Executive Summary and Biggest Challenges at their Institution (shown in more detailed reports):

  • 4-Year Public - #1 issue is “Ability to get the courses I need with few conflicts”
  • 4-Year Private - #1 issue is “Ability to get the courses I need with few conflicts”
  • 2-Year Community College/Technical - #1 issue - “Classes are offered at times I’m available.” #2 issue - “Ability to get courses I need with few conflicts”
